Instructors – Jenna Stewart and Susan Justiniano
8 Classes: $60
Explore existing Spoken Word styles and create your own original work, using group discussions, tailored writing assignments, and performance exercises for the voice and body.  At the end of this course, you will have a clear understanding of poetic writing and know how to connect with existing texts. You will have experience sharing work, providing and responding to feedback with peers, and an understanding of the format of live poetry events. The course will culminate with the option of a live performance, with rehearsals at the Bergen County Players (BCP) theater in mid-late January (NOTE: participants not performing live will be scheduled to record their performances via Zoom in January.)  BCP encourages and is committed to a diverse and inclusive theater experience. All are welcome.
Based on BCP's desire to keep its members and patrons safe, anyone involved with a live BCP production must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and be willing to provide proof of vaccination. This policy covers all members of a production including performers, musicians, crew, artistic staff and anyone whose job is dependent upon in-person interaction. Consideration will be given to those individuals who are not fully vaccinated to participate in both the course, and the performance component, will the accommodation of taping their performance via Zoom, and streamed on stage.
