MAIN STAGE SHOWS

SPAMALOT
Music by John Du Prez, Eric Idle and Neil Innes
Lyrics and Book by Eric Idle
Directed by Jacqueline Poquette
September 16 – October 14, 2017
** No performances on Sept 29-30

This side-splitting parody of the legend of King Arthur and his clueless Knights of the Round Table is for all fans of absurd musical comedy, not just those who are members of the Monty Python cult!  A three-time Tony Award winner (including Best Musical of 2005).  “I defy anyone to go and not have a really fun evening. It's the silliest thing I’ve ever seen…”  John Cleese, Founding Member, Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

HARVEY
Written by Mary Chase
Directed by Jerry Hurley
October 28 – November 18, 2017

The 1944 Pulitzer Prize for Drama was rightfully awarded to this delightful and gentle comedy about Elwood P. Dowd, a regular guy who likes to spend time with his friend Harvey.  Nothing unusual there, except Harvey happens to be a six foot rabbit! “…a delectable mid-century chestnut with an idiosyncratic personality that still sparkles.”  THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

CINDERELLA
Music by Jeanne Bargy and Jim Eller
Lyrics and Book by Jim Eller
Directed by Bill Kaufman
December 2 – December 17, 2017

The Prince Street Players version of this timeless classic starts with a Fairy Godmother asking her two helpers to identify the neediest person in the kingdom.  They introduce her to Ella, and with magic wand in hand, Godmother throws in a dash of belief, a sprinkle of magic and a pinch of true love.  Voila! Cinderella has her life changed for good in this frothy, fast-paced musical, specifically created for young audiences!

OTHER DESERT CITIES
Written by Jon Robin Baitz
Directed by Dottie Fischer
January 13 – February 3, 2018

It’s Christmas Eve, 2004, and the Wyeth family is gathered together in Palm Springs awaiting the arrival of daughter Brooke, a writer who after a six year absence is finally returning home.  Combining emotionally charged recriminations, revelations and shifting loyalties with sparkling wit, this Pulitzer Prize finalist is “A boldly conventional yet altogether gripping work that knows individual psychology as keenly as it understands the world around it.”  NEWSDAY

STEEL MAGNOLIAS
Written by Robert Harling
Directed by Ellyn Essig
February 17 – March 10, 2018

Chronicling the life of six women in the northwestern Louisiana parish of Chinquapin over a three year period, this warm “dramedy” is set in a home-based beauty salon.  The witty and insightful dialogue focuses on their strong friendships but also exposes their conflicts, fears, and relationships with men.  “…a truly unforgettable production full of sass, style and sisterhood…equal parts hilarious and entertaining.” THE STAGE REVIEW

AND THE WINNER WAS…
Concept by Ray Yucis
Directed by Ray Yucis
March 24 – April 21, 2018
** No performances on March 30-31 and April 1

A unique original revue celebrating the music from shows that have won the Tony Award as Best Musical…from Kiss Me, Kate to The Music Man to Hamilton.  A talented company of singers/dancers/actors will lead you through a tour of Tony history in a casual, cabaret-like environment.  Great songs…great entertainers…great fun!

IT’S ONLY A PLAY
Written by Terrence McNally
Directed by Peter Colletto
May 5 – June 3, 2018
** No performances May 13 and May 25-27

This uproarious joke-a-minute comedy finds a producer, director, playwright, two actors, critic and even a bellman with theatrical aspirations nervously awaiting the reviews of a new Broadway play while attending an opening night party at an upscale Manhattan apartment.  The multi-Award winning Terrence McNally (Master Class, Ragtime, Love! Valour! Compassion!) has written “a razor-toothed parody of that most insular showbiz species, Broadway theater folk, (as) an affectionate valentine to them.”  THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

SECOND STAGE PRODUCTIONS

GEORGE IS DEAD, Written by Elaine May
TALKING CURE, Written by Ethan Coen
Directed by Paul J. Reitnauer III
Saturday, January 27 2018 at 2:00pm
Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 7:00pm

A pair of one act plays that comprised parts of the scintillating trilogy Relatively Speaking.  In George Is Dead, multiple-Award winner Elaine May (of the famed Nichols & May comedy duo) presents Doreen, the widow of George who is too hilariously spoiled and superficial to grieve. Can anyone be that monumentally self-absorbed, even in a farce? Happily, yes!

Ethan Coen, creator of such brilliant films as “Fargo” and “The Big Lebowski”, turns his dark-comedy skills toward the stage with a bitingly funny tug-of-war between a postal worker incarcerated in a mental hospital and the therapist trying to treat him.  “Packed with nifty zingers!”  NY TIMES

WHILE SHAKESPEARE SLEPT, Written by Tim Kelly
WHEN SHAKESPEARE'S LADIES MEET, Written by Charles George
Directed by Terri Caust
Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 8:00pm
Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2:00pm

In the first of these two 30 minute one-act plays, Will suffers a bout of self-doubt and gets a job at an inn, where some of his characters plague his dreams until he returns to  playwriting.  Then, Juliet has just fallen in love with Romeo and the other ladies of the Bard's imagination convene to enlighten her on the best method of conducting a romance.
