Roles

Parts Female

• Jane   Late   20s/early 30s. The eldest and most beautiful Bennet daughter.  Kind, Idealistic, diffident.  Always tries to do the right thing. Doubles with Miss DeBourgh
• Miss DeBourgh   Lady Catherines’s daughter, a gremlin. 
• Lizzy   A year or two younger than Jane. Clever, spirited: can be sharp-tongued. Gets flustered, which makes her klutzy.  Prides herself on good judgment.  Not especially beautiful.
• Lydia 14   The youngest Bennet. Lively prone to imitating others and eavesdropping. Doubles as Lady Catherine  
• Lady Catherine   50s Patrician Ceasar meets drill sergeant.

Parts Male

• Mr. Darcy   30s. One of the richest men in England.  Too proper for his own good, awkward in most social contexts.  Prides himself on self-control and good judgment.
• Mr. Bingley   20-30   Loves the world and the world loves him.  Mr. Darcy’s particular friend. Doubles with Mary.
• Mary   The third Bennet girl.  Bit of a monster.  Prone to pedanticism and sulking.  Dark Goth character trapped in a bright Austen world.
• Mr. Collins   A pedantic obtuse man, Rector to Lady Catherine. Doubles with Wickham and Miss Bingley
• Wickham   Handsome and charming gentleman.  Raised with Darcy
• Miss Bingly   A very rich, condescending, young woman.  Fancies herself witty.  Attracted to Darcy
• Parts either male or female
• Mrs. Bennet   The matriarch of the Bennet family.  Mostly a silly woman of mean understanding and variable temper.  Hypochondriac.  The business of her life is to get her daughters married. 
• Mr. Bennet The patriarch of the Bennet family.  Finds amusement in absurdity, often looks for respectable escape from the chaos of his family life.  Doubles with Charlotte Lucas
• Charlotte Lucas   Same age as Lizzy. A practical girl with a good sense of humor.

Audition will consist of readings from the script. Head shots are appreciated but not required. As you can see age of actors playing the roles in relative in most cases.  As doubling can call for an actor to play a 14 year old and a 50 year old woman it gives the actor an opportunity to really stretch and play.

Performances are Feb 3-Feb 24.  Friday and Saturday at 8:00 and Sunday at 2:00. Actors must be available for all performances.  Rehearsals will begin shortly after the show is cast. 

Bergen County Players encourages and is committed to a diverse and inclusive theater experience.  Unless otherwise specified, BCP will cast any actor in any role if appropriate, without regard to race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, physicality, or disability. Casting will be character-driven; therefore, actors are encouraged to audition for any roles in which they are interested.

In addition to the roles listed above, the backstage crew will be used for the ensemble which will include many scenes in the show.  Please let the director know if you would be interested in being involved with this.
