Oradell, NJ, October 1, 2013 – As part of its ongoing program to assist local charities, The Bergen County Players recently presented a $2,200 donation to the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House in Hackensack.

Prior to a performance of BCP season opener “Man of La Mancha,” (Left to Right) BCP President Margie Druss Fodor and BCP Charity Chair Sheldon Stone presented the check to Dr. Julia DeBellis, medical director of the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House, and Kimberly Caesar, director of Development of the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital, at Hackensack University Medical Center. The Children’s House is a division of the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital.

“The support of local organizations like the Bergen County Players is vital to our mission. BCP is enabling us to help our neighbors during the most difficult time of their lives, and for that we are most grateful,” Caesar said.

The Audrey Hepburn Children’s House works to help ensure the safety, health and well-being of infants, children, and adolescents through assessment, intervention, and prevention of child abuse and neglect.

“We are happy to do whatever we can to help children in need in Bergen County,” said Druss Fodor, of Westwood. “This is also our way of saying thank you to a community that has supported us for the last 81 years.”

Since the theater’s 1995-96 season, the BCP membership has chosen a specific charity each year to which the organization donates a portion of its net proceeds. The charities selected all benefit Bergen County. Next year’s recipient is the Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland.

Past charities are: Multiple Sclerosis, Bergen County Community Action Program, ARC of Bergen County, Shelter Our Sisters, Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, Center for Help, Center for Food Action, Spectrum for Living Development Research Foundation for Children, We Must Care, Youth Consultation Service, Appropriate Living for the Autistic, AIDS Research Foundation for Children, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Alzheimer Association of Greater NJ Chapter, Gilda’s Club, Adler Aphasia Center, and Family Promise of Bergen County.

The Bergen County Players also donates tickets to numerous educational and other organizations throughout the year for their various fundraisers and events. BCP is located at the Little Firehouse Theatre, 298 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ. You can visit the theater online at www.bcplayers.org.

BCP is bringing the best of Broadway to the neighborhood this season by staging the works of critically acclaimed playwrights such as David Mamet and William Shakespeare. With a ticket price that is about the same as for a movie, popcorn, and a soda, BCP continues to be committed to the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the artistry and excitement of live theater.

Bergen County Players has grown tremendously from its roots as a small community theater when it was founded in 1932; today, nearly 300 volunteer members, working on and off stage, make possible the nine productions presented each season
